Introduction to the 9th Grade School Administrators

Welcome to Scott County 9th Grade School!  We are so excited to start this year with you. Moving from middle to high school is a big deal!  One of the most exciting aspects is it is a new beginning for you and your student.
Over the next few days your students will be getting to know their teachers, and the teachers your students.  So…..we didn't want to be left out.  The following is a snapshot of our administrative staff.

Dwayne Ellison is starting his third year as principal.  He and his wife, Crissy, are the parents of Riley, a 3rd grader at Lemons Mill, Charlie, a preschooler, and Finley who passed away from SIDS in 2013.  Dwayne and Crissy started the Finley Foundation to fund research for SIDS.  You will hear more about the upcoming Finley 5K on Saturday, August 30th in the coming weeks.  Feel free to register at www.active.com to participate.  Dwayne played football for Campbellsville University while earning his degree in social studies.  He earned his administration degree from EKU.  He enjoys helping coach the Georgetown College football team.  Dwayne and his family are members of St. Johns Church.

Jonda Tippins is starting her 25th year in education. She serves as our assistant principal. She and her husband Tom have two kids and two grand kids, Kinley and Cooper.  Jonda is starting her 10th year in Scott County.  Tom has retired from Toyota and is currently working on the ‘honey do’ list.  Jonda earned her doctorate degree from EKU.  She and Tom are members of Harmony Christian Church.

John Travis is no stranger to Scott County.  Many of you had John or his wife Billie in class.  John has two sons and two granddaughters, Maddie and Isla.  He will tell you they are the light of his eyes.  John played football for Georgetown College while earning his degree in art education.  He has since earned his doctorate from The Masters College.  John and his family are members of Maddoxtown Baptist Church, where John pastors.

Our goal is to post a weekly blog each Monday.  Be sure to check back each week.
We look forward to getting to know you and your students and helping them to become successful members of our community.  Don’t hesitate to contact any of us if we can be of service to you this year.
